Porin kulttuurisäätö kutsuu vierailemaan ja palaamaan syyskuussa 2021 järjestettyyn Evergreen Inner Jungle -näyttelyyn. Outo Olossa 21.1. avautuva teoskokonaisuus, The Fascination With Decay, Imagination and Mystery, on taiteilija Shubhangi Singhin kolmikanavainen videoinstallaatio ja Evergreen Inner Junglen näyttelydokumentaatio. Teos keskustelee kasvitieteellisen puutarhan eri toimijoiden, rakenteiden ja tavoitteiden kanssa. Kasvitieteellisten puutarhojen toimintaa perustellaan usein opetuksellisilla, luonnonsuojelullisilla ja lääketieteellisillä arvoilla. Samanaikaisesti ne kuitenkin toimivat myös osana taloudellista kasvitiedettä, jossa tieteellinen tutkimus linkittyy antropologiaan ja kolonialistisiin voimiin, jotka ovat käyttäneet hyväksi kasvitieteellistä tutkimusta edistääkseen kaupallisia ja imperialistisia tavoitteita.
Kolmikanavainen videoteos kuvattiin syyskuussa 2021 Porin kulttuurisäädön kuratoiman näyttelyn Evergreen Inner Jungle aikana. Se pohtii näyttelydokumentoinnin konventioita ja rajoja, sekä toimii itsenäisenä teoksena.

Tilan ulko-ovella on kaksi porrasta. Ovi on 65cm leveä. Sisään pääsee pyörätuolilla liikuteltavaa ramppia pitkin. Näyttelyvalvojat avustavat rampin ja sisäänpääsyn kanssa. Tilan WC on hyvin ahdas ja matkalla sinne on kaksi porrasta.

Porin kulttuurisäätö is happy to invite you to revisit the exhibition Evergreen Inner Jungle in a form of video documentation and installation by Shubhangi Singh. The installation takes place 21.1.-30.1.2022 in Outo Olo at Vaasankatu 15.
Against the backdrop of Kaisaniemi Botanic Garden, The Fascination With Decay, Imagination and Mystery functions as an interlocutor between individuals, cultures and the setting that these actants operate within. In addition to the educational, conservational and medical values that are often attached to the present day botanical gardens, they also have equally been complicit in Economic Botany that links scientific knowledges to anthropology and the colonial powers that have exploited and commodified botanical studies to advance commercial and imperialist aspirations.
The three channel video work was produced during the exhibition Evergreen Inner Jungle organised by Porin kulttuurisäätö in September 2021. The video and installation can be perceived at the same time as a documentation of the exhibition and as an individual artwork.

The space is wheelchair accessible with assistance: There is a movable ramp that covers the two steps in the entrance. Exhibition staff will assist with the ramp upon arrival. The door is 65 cm wide. The toilet is very small, and there are two steps on the way there.
