The worm, the hairy bug and the hedgehog
Marloes van Son
In early autumn 2014, we went on a random walk around Reposaari. While wandering and exploring we were guided by certain abstract signs. As we were led along a mysterious path we realised that we became part of a fairytale-like myth: the story of ‘The worm, the hairy bug and the dead hedgehog’.
This audio-walk is a guide to find the story of ‘The worm, the hairy bug and the hedgehog’ in your own surroundings, at your own pace. The audio used to compose the tracks is extracted from videos made during the original walk around Reposaari in 2014.
Marloes van Son’s recent works focus on sound-devices, instrument building and graphic scores. She uses these as tools to explore everyday appliances and natural phenomena. By repurposing ordinary subjects and objects she aims to create unusual, yet familiar experiences. Next to building electronic objects, Marloes uses her self-built instruments to create layered atmospheric soundscapes with a pop twist.
